I mentioned the action of the Fairfax tax authorities to collect Personal Property Tax against firms renting machines to the Agency. The DCI directed that we discuss this with the U.S. Attorney's Office to determine whether Fairfax County has authority for this purpose. Action was given to the General Counsel. b . I also advised that Rex Whitten, Federal Highway Commissioner, had indicated his plans to give up about 220 acres at the Headquarters site. I advised that we are going to ask GSA for this property for our future expansion. Colonel White advised that we should present a strong justification for this property giving all factors. I also mentioned that we had already asked for the Thorne -Scattergood Tract of 32 acres in a letter to GSA . 3 . Emmett Echols advised that back on the job, 25X1 A doing well, and working quietly. She wou ce a more responsible position. Emmett asked if I would agree to her continuing to work in DD/P since he has been unable to find a position for her elsewhere. I agreed that he could discuss this wit ~n WH with a view to keeping her in that area . Emmett will 25X1 A report back . I became aware that action on the ase .was. on dead center < The subject was staying horns and reporting in by telephone, but no positive action was being taken. I .arranged to brief Colonel White immediately. It was agreed that we would call subject back to active duty and would. assist him in obtaining outside employment .
