1. At the staff meeting this noon I raised a question about Phase II of the
renovation of the Agency's heating and air conditioning system. Phase I, which
concerns the water heat s stern has been completed; Phase II concerns the air
conditioning system only. said that $260, 000 of operating funds
will be necessary to conduct ase 11 . The Office of Logistics advised GSA on
1 October to proceed with Phase II and that 198 000 has been set aside for the
first part of this program. The study b nd Associates on the 25X1A
heating system revealed a number of tec ica and quite complicated problems
in the air conditioning system. I asked for a briefing on the faults of the system
as revealed in the study and aske to ask George Meloon to ar- 25X1A
range for a representative o nd Associates to give me a brief -25X1A
ing around 1 December. At is po n wou like to inquire into the faults and
errors resulting from the installation of this system to assure to the degree
possible that the same faults are not repeated. I would also like to know where
responsibility for these faults lies so that we can keep this in mind for the future.
