DIARY NOTES
DD/S 9 ,February 1966
1. Redecoration of the Director's Suite. This afternoo
and I met with the Director to discuss refurnishing of his suite o o ices. or is
immediate office the DCI wants another carpet and a better sofa. He is satisfied
with the rest of his furniture. The DCI had no objections to the furniture selection
by his secretaries. It was agreed that the carpeting should include the entire suite
and should not be of different colors. The Director was not satisfied with the gray-
speckled carpeting sample which roposed but would prefer a lighter 25X1A
shade. I asked George to meet with t e decorator from Chicago and have her give
an opinion on the DCTs suite and then coordinate this with the Fine Arts Commission.
We must then submit our recommendation to the DCI for his final approval. George
will follow through. I also mentioned to George and the DCI that the carpeting in the
USIB Conference Room and the DCI Conference Room should be replaced and we
should have FAC recommendations on both of these.
* 2. NPIC Expansion. advised me that the DCI, in conversations
with Congressmen Rivers and Mahon, has laid the groundwork that NPIC must expand
both in personnel and facilities and that the Agency is working on plans for this
purpose. Neither congressmen questioned this action and expressed willingness to
entertain proposals we might have in mind.
