MEMORANDUM FOR:
SUBJECT ; Records Center Construction Costs
1. Today Record Center type construction averages $15 per
square foot. Our interest in a 30,000 square foot addition (to
hold some 60,000 cubic feet of records) will cost about $450,000.
Shelving costs 80 cents per cubic foot installed (another $48,000).
2. Ordinary cinder block construction runs $10 per foot, but
for us the necessary will
be higher. This $15 average includes heat, hunidity control and
air conditioning. The shelving Is from the Federal prisons and
generally used by us and GSA.
3. The National Archives and Records Service authority on
such building information is Mr. Charles Henderson, code 13
extension 35185.
