NARRATIVE SUPPLEMENT TO THE CIA ARCHIVES AND RECORDS CENTER
MONTHLY STATISTICAL SUMMARY FOR MARCH 1968
1. Accessioning
During March the A&RC accessioned 1,191 cu. ft. of
records. The majority of the inactive records were retired
by RID - 138 cu. ft.; CRS - 148 cu. ft.; FINANCE - 100 cu. ft.;
Security - 40 cu. ft.; Personnel - 21 cu. ft.; Medical - 24
cu. ft.; and FMSAC - 39 cu. ft. More than 75 per cent of the
Supplemental Distribution accessioned consisted of maps - 197
cu. ft. and NIS - 116 cu. ft. One series of maps on Communist
China consisted of 2,025 copies and required 72 cu. ft. of
storage space.
2. Reference
Nine thousand, six hundred and forty six reference
items were pulled and forwarded.
3. Disposition
Disposition action was taken on 806 cu. ft. of
records, 594 cu. ft. were destroyed at the Center, and 212
cu. ft. were returned to the originating component. Most of
the destruction this month consisted of inactive records (456
cu. ft.). Of this total 189 cu. ft. were Logistics records,
and 197 cu. ft. of Finance records are the results of the
Comptroller General's decision permitting CIA to audit and
destroy the Financial records.
4. Archives
There were 7,679 items accessioned by the Archives,
which required 43 cu. ft. of storage space. Most of these
items were NPIC reports and overall did not add to A&RC hold-
ings because these reports are one of two copies formally
held in the NPIC Vital Records. During the month the A&RC
was supporting Agency History Writers at the Center for a
total of 46 days and as many as 4 on one day.

The Supplemental Distribution copies of Finished
Intelligence moved to during the month consisted of
the following: OSI - Cu. ft.; M - 504 cu. ft.;

the records formally stored in Alexandria, we now have 14,142
cu. ft. in
6. Total Holdings
The net increase for March was 385 cu. ft.; this raised
the Total Holds to 102,396 cu. ft.
