Dear Chuck,
Item one of this ECP is disapproved by the SPO.
We have no evidence that the present control design for the
multiplex switch contributes to excessive failures of these
switches. There is one advantage, howover, to the present
design in that the multiplex switch. operation can be checked
without having to turn on the
Item two of this change, re-routing of J-Box wiring
is required and approved. We understand that Nat considers this
a contractor responsible change. Accordingly, Nat should be
requested to submit a revised ECP to cover this no cost portion
of the change, unless you think this unnecessary.

Submitted for your approval is ECP GR-35, dated 11-12-65. We are proceed-
ing with this change prior to change proposal approval. The Production
units will be changed as indicated by GR-35.
The eight (8) Prototype units will be retrofitted by GR technicians.
The change to be made to the prototype units include a new relay bracket
P/N 531A620-099-1, which will be used in a 53lA620-028-101 Relay
Assembly that can be mounted into the J-Box on existing mounting hardware.
The total cost for the eight (8) prototype units will be $1603.90 which
includes $1,178.56. engineering costs. Kit costs will be $53.16 per unit.
No costs have been included for providing that portion of the change
associated with the Man 28V DC signal to the Synchronizer in the Programmed
mode.

TITLE OF PROPOSAL: Improve control of multiplex switch and provide Man-Prog Mode

NATURE OF PROPOSAL:
1. Install 6K12 relay, connector and wiring, and reroute wiring to permit
operation of multiplex switch.
2. Reroute wiring in J-Box to provide circuit to Synchronizer for "Man 28J DC
3. A Mod. No. will be assigned with the incorporation of this change.
REASON FOR PROPOSAL
1. Conserve the operating life of the slave multiplex switch and to
permit slave multiplex switch only when the =is switched on. Ref:
ADP Eng. Discrepancy Report No. 87.
2. Provid; a "Man 2811 DC" signal to the Synchronizer Unit in the
Programmed Mode as well as the present Manual Mode.
