SUBJECT : Purge of Inactive Records.
1. Recently the Support Staff of the USIB Information Handling
Committee was transferred to the NIPE Staff. This Committee was formerly
known as CODIB and initiated and completed an extensive study called
the "Staff Community Information Processing Study (SCIPS)." The
completed survey forms, special memoranda, briefing folders, catalogs
and extra copies of the six volume final report have been sent to
the archives. The total amount is 56 cartons.
2. The Support Staff now feels that most of the extra copies of
the final report can be destroyed and is intending to review the other
material in the belief that there is need to retain certain memoranda
and forms. This will be done in the near future. However, it is not
possible at this time to estimate the amount of released space. It
may amount to the equivalent of 20 to 25 cartons.
3. One point to be made is that these are USIB/CODIB papers and
not exclusively CIA records.
4. I will report again as soon as I have further information.
