Approved For Release 2008/03/05: CIA-RDP73-00402R000100370014-9 7 January 1969 Attached is a Tec l~,est from National Archives for our Agency to participate in funding a portion of the research costs on a study of the "media used for communications". I suggest our Agency cooperate here as it did in a similar study in 1964 to the tune of $5,000. Essentially, this study is concerned with the "permanence of paper". The National Archives and Records Service has had the Bureau of Standards working on this problem for some years and the attached letter lists six reports that resulted to date. Besides the validity and universal need for this proposed re- search our participation in the 1964 microfilm study provided worth- while "image enhancement" and talking points in liaison, as well as information on the findings. The attached form provided by National Archives requires (1) an amount, (2) an appropriation reference number, (3) and an official to contact for the transfer of funds. We may use it or follow our 1964 format, (copy also attached.) 7, ~7 11 T.n IM r Approved For Release 2008/03/05: CIA-RDP73-00402R000100370014-9
