Communist China (USIB-D-64.6/23,
28 May 1965)
1. The USIB approved on 1.7 June 1965 the recommendations of
the Critical Collection Problems Committee (CCPC) (copy attached)
which were made as a result of that ComrnitteelIs review of the
,activities intelligence community against Communist China. In
approving these r?ec-onrtiwndation9, the USI13 took note of the importance
of building the intelligence data base on Communist China in view of
the current: and increased threat of that country to interests of the
United States. Because of this and because of the high priority,
reaffirmed by USIB, attached to the entire intelligence problem of
Communist China, I consider action by the elements of CLA, along
with those of other agencies of the intelligence community, to be of
immediate and continuing urgency.
