SUBJECT: Contact with Representative William Ayres (B. , Ohio)
i . in the Office of Security, alerted us to an
inquiry from the FBI concernin g a possible relationship between
the Agency and 0
2. Apparently-told Representative William Ayres
that he was willing to work. for the U.S. Government and mentioned
that he had been in contact with a of CIA. Ayres in
turn contacted John Buckley, a former FBI employee now with OEO,
in the interest of verifying the relationship. Mr. Murray Chotiner,
who is on the White House staff, is also apparently somehow involved.
3. said he is checking into the case and will advise
us of the outcome. He could not shed any light on why Ayres had sought
this information so indirectly.
