I reviewed with Kendall some of the most recent current intelligence
items such as the detection of new ICBM silos in the Soviet Union and Soviet
shipment of MIG Zls to Egypt. Kendall is being briefed fairly regularly by
DIA on most of these topics, but he appreciated my going over the situation
with him.
I mentioned to Kendall the reque st we had from GAO for the production
of data on Soviet expenditures in the military research and development field
in conjunction with a study they are doing for Senator McIntyre's R&D Sub-
committee. Kendall expressed concern about providing this material through
GAO and gave me some of the background on the departure of Ross Hamachek
who worked for Senator McIntyre at one time and is now working for Senator
Proxmire.

13. (Secret - GLC) C/FE, called to say that Marshall
Green, Assistant Secretary of State for Bureau of East Asian and Pacific
Affairs, would be testifying before the House Foreign Affairs Committee
Monday and was interested in knowing the extent of the Director's briefing
of that Committee on Laos. I told-that the Director's last appearance
before the House Foreign Affairs Committee was on 24 March 1970. His
testimony included an intelligence briefing on Laos, but did not go into any
details about Agency operations there. said he would pass this on
