15. (0- GLC) Checked with Jim Woolsey, Senate Armed
Services Committee staff, on the status of the conferee action on the
Symington amendment to the Military Procurement bill. Woolsey said
the conferees have concluded action on the bill and the House Armed
Services Committee staff is drafting the "Joint Explanatory Statement
of the Committee of Conference. " He said he would be working with them,
however, on the appropriate language to exclude from the
I reminded Woolsey
that the statement should make it clear that the subsections of the Symington
amendment having to do with future appropriations and reporting for Laos
would not include the normal costs of our operation there. Woolsey said
he appreciated my reminding him of this and would attend to it.

17. (1 - LLM) After coordinating with
OTR, I called the office of Peter Lakeland, Executive Secretary to
Senator Jacob Javits (R. , N. Y.), and relayed to his secretary information
concerning the choice of three dates for Lakeland's appearance before the
Advanced Intelligence Seminar. She said she would pass the information
on to him and try to be back to us on Monday.
