Mr. George Lowrance, on the staff of Senator Lloyd Bensten (D., Texas), for Mr. Carver and Mr. Maury to meet with the Senator in his office at 1:45 p. m. tomorrow to give him an area briefing on Southeast Asia. 12. I IMet with Ed Braswell, Chief of Staff, Senate Armed Services Committee, and brought him up-to-date on a number o. current intelligence items. Braswell discussed the impact of certain o these items on upcoming briefings of our Subcommittee. See Memorandum for the Record. 13. I I Stuart French, Special Assistant to Assistant Secretary of defense (International Security Affairs), called to say DOD had terminated the basic security clearances for Walter Pincus and Norman Paul whose formal association with the Foreign, Relations Committee staff was terminated on 15 February. I told Frenc we a a tickler on this and would be closing out Pincus' and Paul's access clearances to compartmented information. 14. 1 1 Received a call from Kathy Rowan,in the office of Representative Lawrence Williams (R.
