1, I Received from Mr. Jack Norpel,
Senate Internal Security Subcommittee staff, a reproduction of a two-
page undated memorandum in Indonesian which was forwarded for our
information and retention. The document and accompanying notes will
be forwarded to FE Division. No response is desired by Mr. Norpel.
2, I In the absence of Fred Mesmer, Senate
Immigration and Naturlization Subcommittee staff, I met briefly with
Mr. Drury Blair, of the Subcommittee staff, concerning recent meetings
between Mr. A. Trevor Gallaher, the Subcommittee staff, and members
of Senator Eastland's (D. , Miss.) personal staff. Mr. Blair asked if
I could meet with him, Mr. Mesmer, and possibly Mr. Courtney Pace,
Administrative Assistant to Senator Eastland, tomorrow or Thursday.
Mr. Blair will arrange the meeting and advise me in the morning.
Received a call late in the day from
who told me that a request had just been received from
I&NS for a statement of the service performed in the Con o in coordination
with the U. S. Government by I l is
relaying the request to OGC for action.
4. Met with Mrs. Withey, in the
office of Senator Barry Goldwater (R. , Ariz. ), and firmed up arrange-
ments for herself and Messrs. Jim Roscoe, Stan Gray, and Tom Reavis,
of the Senator's office, to visit Headquarters on Friday, 20 August, from
10 to 11:30 a. m,
5. Mary Bernard, of the Joint Committee
on Congressional Information, called to ask for the fact sheet of services
the Agency offers to Members, but I explained that we are a service
organization for the President dealing with classified information and as
such had no constituent services or public functions, which Miss Bernard
accepted. I referred her to the information in the "Congressional Direc-
tory" which supplied the Agency's point of contact for dealing with
congressional inquiries and Miss Bernard thanked me for this information.
