25X1 9. Mr. Robert Horner, Chief Investigator,
House Internal Security Committee, called and reported on the clash which
had taken place between Chairman Ichord and freshman Committee member
25X1A25X1A Robert F. Drinan (D. , Mass.) in connection with the appearance of
25X1A earl in the morning.

25X1A and were advised, I met with Horner and
Richard Schultz, Counsel, House Internal Security Committee, and
received their assurances that Chairman Ichord would not permit
25X1A Mr. Drinian to pursue a line of questioning with who was
scheduled to testify later in the day, which would violate our existing
25X1A understanding with the Committee. Following testimony,
Horner advised that the session had gone smoothly and Mr. Drinian had
not posed any problem questions.

10. Met with J. Sourwine, Chief Counsel,
t Subcommittee, and gave him the address at which
could be reached. (See Journal of 20 January 1971. )
r. ourwine as e whethe~ would react positively to a letter from
him. I told him I didnrt know, but I would try to find out and be back in
touch. Mr. Sourwine said he felt he could be helpful to~ in connection
with the publication of his manuscript. I agreed with him that he wouldn't
want to subpoena nor would he want to do anything that would adversely
affect his efforts to get his work published and to establish himself.
