(Internal Use Only - JGO) Received a call from Mr. Bernard Poirier, Special Assistant to Senator Mike Gravel (D. , Alaska), who told me that the Senator was requesting our assistance in a matter relating to their office. o r. oiri,er a we would e p ease to provide such information that would be available here at Headquarters but that the problem is one for referral to the State Department for their action. He thanked me and said that he would contact Assistant Secretary 25X1A Abshire's office. Maury and met with Chairman Nedzi, Intelligence Subcommittee, and Frank Slatinshek, Assistant Chief Counsel, House Armed Services Committee, and briefed them on the current situation in Laos; intelligence community structure; the FY 1972 Agency budget and staff personnel strength; and "deficiencies"in the present 25X1A espionage laws.
