Approved For Release 2006/09/27: CIA-RDP73B00296R000300250010-0 SECRET JOURNAL OFFICE OF LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL Tuesday - 28 September 1971 1. (Confidential - JMM) Called Miss Ward, in the office of Senator John Stennis, to say that the Director and Laotian Defense Minister Sisouk would like to meet with the Senator Wednesday, Thursday or Friday morning, or if this was not possible, Wednesday afternoon. I said the Director had another commitment Thursday afternoon and would be out of town Friday afternoon. She said she would check with the Senator and call us back. 2. (Confidential - JMM) Called Russ Blandford, Chief Counsel, House Armed Services Committee, to alert him to the- story in this afternoon's Washington Star quoting Representative Paul McCloskey's statement that CIA I told Blandford this was absurd nonsense. He said there was little the Committee could or would do for us, and we would either have to speak up in our own defense, get somebody in the Administration- -perhaps the President himself--to do so, or learn to live with it. 25X1 3. (Confidential - GLC) Mr. OSI, called to say he had received an alert from Howard Brown, in AEC, and then a ;call from Colonel Seymour Shwiller, on the staff of the Joint Committee on Atomic Energy, asking him for comparative information on the recent Soviet under- ground nuclear test and a similar earlier one. Ibulled the information together and handled this with Colonel Shwiller by telephone. 4. (Confidential - GLC) Picked up from C. B. Morrison, on the staff of Senator Allen J. Ellender (D., La. ), a seventh reel of the Senator's trip to Southeast Asia in 1956-57. This was passed on to OCI Graphics. 5. (Secret - JGO) Met with Frank Slatinshek, House Armed Services Committee staff, who told me he will be tied up much of the remainder of the week on a report he is preparing for the Committee. He requested that I work out the necessary administrative arrangements for the Nedzi Subcommittee meeting at the Agency next Monday with Mr. Blandford. I briefed him on ChiCom missile testing and today's Soviet lunar launch. SECRET Approved For Release 2006/09/27: CIA-RDP73B00296R000300250010-0
