STATSPEC
1. (Confidential - JMM) Discussed with John Goldsmith, on the
staff of the Senate Armed Services Committee, material that might be
used in a possible upcoming secret Senate debate on Laos. See Memo
for Record.
2. (Internal Use Only - JMM) Called Nancy Bearge, Research Assistant,
Senate Armed Services Committee, and told her I would like to give her a short
defensive briefing prior to her upcoming trip to the Soviet Union. She said she
would be available this week.
3. (Internal Use Only - JGO) Talked to Grace Hussie, in the office
of Senator Hugh Scott (R. , Pa. ), and told her that we would be able to
provide some information on the state of the art and technical expertise
concerning Soviet production of oxygen and nitrogen but that the information
the Agency can provide should be considered supplemental to that provided
in meetings with the Department of Commerce and others. Miss Hussie
said she understood and that the people involved, the
of . , would not be coming to the city solely to meet with
Agency representatives. Mr. F_ -1 OSI, has been advised.
4. (Internal Use Only - JGO) In response to a question posed by
Mr. OER Publication Staff, I talked to Mr. Darrell St. Claire,
Chief Clerk, Office of the Secretary of the Senate, who advised that the
customary designation to be used on individual copies of publication would
be "Hon. John R. Jones, United States Senate; Hon. William B. Brown,
United States House of Representatives. "

6. (Secret - JGO) Met with Mr. John R. Blandford, Chief Counsel,
House Armed Services Committee, and briefed him on the Cuban economy
and Soviet manned space activity.
