Approved For Release 2006/12/15: CIA-RDP73B00296R000500040008-5 SECRET JOURNAL OFFICE OF LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL Wednesday - 1 September 1971 1. Talked to Mrs. Harriet Van Duyne, 25X1 Personal Secretary to Representative Florence D r R. , N. J. ), in response to Mrs. Van Duyne's call of yesterday concerninge 25X1 and told her that I was unable to identify the individual from the information provided. 2. Received a call from Mr. Bernard Poirier, 25X1 Special Assistant to Senator Mike Gravel (D. , Alaska), who told me he had been out of the city on vacation and during his absence he had received a call from but did not have a pro er number to respond to the call. I told 25X1 him I would try to contact and have him call. I I will 26X1 return the call and pass off the earlier call to Mr. Poirier on a social note. See Journal items of 19 and 24 August 1971. 3. Called Bill Woodruff, Counsel, Senate Appropriatio2s5X1 Committee, regarding delivery of a letter to Chairman Ellender concerning the withdrawal from Reserves on a sensitive project. Woodruff said Ellender would not be back in town until the middle of next week so there was no hurry. I reminded him in general terms of the project and he said that the only question that had come up when he briefed Ellender earlier was "the number of bodies involved. " I said I would check on this and let him know. I asked Woodruff about the prospects for early action on certain bills of interest to the Agency, such as the Cooper and Symington bills. He said that both of these might come up as soon as the Draft bill was out of the way, probably later in September. 25X1 cc: ER O/DDCI Mr. Houston Mr. Goodwin DDI DDS DDS&T EA/DDP OPPB SECRET Legislative Counsel Approved For Release 2006/12/15: CIA-RDP73B00296R000500040008-5
