2. (Unclassified - GLC) Marion Ball, USIA Legislative Liaison,
called regarding an inquiry which Senator George Murphy (R., Calif. )
has received from a constituent and forwarded to USIA. This has to do with a
broadcast the constituent claims to have heard from Moscow radio on 16
November. It was allegedly indicated in this broadcast that the 15 November
moratorium was organized in Stockholm and was part of a world-"wide effort.
Mrs. Ball is trying to obtain a copy of the text of this broadcast. FBIS is
sending her the closest thing they can find to it.
3. - GLC) Jay Sourwine called again to see how we
were progressing in etermin whether we wanted to take a position in the
release of any or all of the stimony. He said unless we wanted
it released he doubts that the Subcommittee will release any of it. He said
he didn't want to prod us but ha Senator Eastland is getting edgy about the
cost to the Subcommittee fo stay here. I told Sourwine I would
check with our people but that I expected our review of the testimony would
be completed shortly.
