I rvin Whalle (R. , Pa. ), concerning the Air America application of which had been referred by the Air Force to the Agency for response. I gave Miss Kogut the address and phone number of the Air America office in Washington and returned the original correspondence. Miss Kogut was very cooperative as usual. 2. Picked up from Robert Horner, Chief Investigator, House Internal Security Committee, the thank you letter to 3. Met with Jim Cline, House Judiciary Committee staff, and gave Him the report on 4. Mr. Robert Hull, Department of State, called in connection wi an airgram which was ready for release concerning the selective evacuation to a safe haven of employees and/or families who have been subjected to terrorists attacks (see 20 July Memo- randum for the Record). Based on the advice of SSA/ DDS, I called Hull and told him our substantive people see no problem in the proposed new policy. I emphasized that this was not a formal Agency position and that we did not want to be listed as coordinating on the airgram, but that we would like a copy. He said he understood perfectly and would put us on distribution. I IReturned the call of National Security Agency, who wante to know the security status o John W. Edmiston, on the staff of Senator Howard Baker (R., Tenn. ), and referred her to the proper office in the Office of the Secretary of Defense. 6. Robert Horner, Chief Investigator, House Internal Security Committee, called and asked if I could pick up a thank you letter from Chairman Ichord to relating to the latter's 25X1 testimony before the full Committee. In connection with their request for to 25X1 appear before the Committee, I alerted Horner to the possibility o a prior request of Senate Internal Security Subcommittee and told him that resent frame of mind is such that it is doubtful that he 25X1 would be an effective witness and the pressure of testifying might be a setback J Horner understood perfectly. I told him we were prepared to come up with a substitute who we thought would do a good job, but Horner said they had locate nd it may be that they will be able to get all they want from him. If not, he will let us know. 7. Spoke to Mike Glennon, in the office of Representative Donald Fraser (D., Minn. ), and in connection with his questions on the Board of National Estimates and USIA referred him to National Intelligence by Jack Zlotnick andi.The Real CIA by Lyman B.
