(Secret - GLC) By way of followup to a contact which Mr. Jack Norpel, Senate Internal Security Subcommittee staff, made with the Agency 25X1 over the weekend, I called Norpel and then met with him and obtained information which he had obtained from a sensitive source regardin a matter of some sensitivity to the Agency. This information was given tol in Security, who is handling the problem. Subsequently, I called Norpel and thanked him for contacting us. I said the information he provided from his source corroborated information which we had received. While we had no interest in talking with his source, we would be interested in certain details if this information should come to his attention. 2. (Unclassified - LLM) Mr. Robert Hull, Department of State, called on the base to refresh his memory on what I had told him when e a previously made an inquiry on this subject. I told him that as far as I knew our position had not changed and that was that the issue of his creditable service with Radio Liberty had been decided (properly, we feel) by the Civil Service Retirement Appeals Board and suggested that in the event u as e i e term "Uovernment contribution" as used in our retirement act legislation pertaining to transfer of employer contributions covered appropriations made directly to retirement funds prior to 1956 when there was no matching contribution. I told him that was not our intent and we did not think the term could be so construed. (Confidential - GLC) Dorothy Fosdick, Senate Subcommittee. on National Security and International Operations staff, called and said Senator Jackson had asked her to get an updated briefing on the situation on the Sino-Soviet border. I told Miss Fosdick that I thought there had been very little, if any, change in that situation, but I would check and be back in touch with her. 3. (Confidential - JGO) Talked to Mr. Michael Van Dusen, Near East Subcommittee staff, House Foreign Affairs Committee, and rescheduled the informal briefing for the Subcommittee. A tentative date of Wednesday, 13 October, 10:00 a. m. , Room 2200 Rayburn Building, was agreed upon. Mr. Van Dusen will try to confirm the day with Chairman Hamilton in the morning.
