9.1 Met with Ralph Preston, Staff Assistant,
House Appropriations Committee, and described to him the forthcoming book
by Patrick McGarvey criticizing the Agency and the community. I said many
of his alle gations were unfounded or distorted, but the book will probably
stimulate concern among members of our Subcommittee, and if so we would
be happy to respond freely and promptly to any questions they might have.
Preston said he would like a copy of the book as soon as we could get him one.
Mr. Preston said that while in all probability Representative Cederberg
would replace Representative Bow on our Subcommittee this would not be
formalized until after Congress reconvenes and we should hold off any offers
25X1A to meet or brief Cederberg until then.
