Talked to Oneta Stockstill, Executive Secretary, House Armed Services Committee, who told me that Representative Charles Gubser (R. , Calif.) is travelling as the guest of the Secretary of Navy to the South Pole and on his return will join the Nonappropriated Funds Activities Subcommittee which will be visiting Indochina. FE Division, has been advised. 25X1 Accompanied OCI, to a 25X1A briefing which had been requested by Messrs. Lowenstein and Moose, Senate Foreign RltjQ _Committee staff, as a final briefing prior to their departure for Southeast Asia. Lowenstein leaves tomorrow for a side trip to Paris and will meet Moose and Senator Symington in Rome on Sunday. The briefing went well and no problems arose, although it was interesting that Lowenstein and Moose expressed the impression they had gained that General Dhep was a fiction (see emorandum for the Record and peed Letter, both dated 6 January).
