I I In the absence of Chairman James Eastland, Senate Judiciary Committee, I talked to Courtney Pace his Administrative Assistant, and explained our concern about the Ervin bill rider to the Civil Rights Commission bill on which Senator Eastland was a conferee. Pace assured me Senator Eastland would try to look out for our interest and I left with him some backup material. 10. In the absence of Senator McClellan I talked to James Calloway, Chief Counsel, Senate Government Operations Committee, and explained to him our concern about the Ervin bill rider to legislation on which McClellan is a conferee. I left with Calloway some backup material and Calloway said he was sure the Senator would help us. He remarked that it was far more important that CIA be exempt than the FBI. 11. Delivered to the offices of Senators Edward Kennedy (D., Mass.), Hubert Humphrey (D., Minn.), Henry Jackson (D., Wash.), Mike Mansfield (D., Mont.), and J. W. Fulbright (D., Ark.), FBIS items in which their names were mentioned. 12. Left with the National Security x -id International Operations Subcommittee staff. Senate Government Operations Committee, biographic information on a number of Soviet scientists involved in disarmament talks with U. S. scientists. This was in response to a request from Richard Perle of the Subcommittee. 13. I Delivered to John Stratton, Investigator, House Intel n r5ecurity ee, a schedule of Radio Hanoi international broadcasts giving the broadcasts times and frequencies.
