Advised George Murphy, Joint Committee on Atomic Energy staff, that while we still would not have final analysis on the last two ChiCom nuclear tests, as now in a position to come up and talk about some of the possibilities involved in these tests and to talk a little bit about design if Captain Bauser, Committee Executive Director, was anxious for more information. Murphy said their schedule was quite full for the next few days and there seems to be no pressure on this subject. He said he would let us know if anything further was needed at this time. 2. Advised Bill Woodruff, Counsel, Senate Appropriations Committee, that per his request Messrs. Carver and Maury would be meeting with Senator Milton Young (R., N.Dak.) on Friday at 10:30 a. m. to bring him up-to-date on the situation in Southeast Asia. 3. I I J. Sourwine, Chief Counsel, Senate Internal Security Subcommittee, called and said David Martin, of the Subcommittee staff, had put together a package of material for Senator Eastland to insert in the Con ressional Record which included the I J and the newspaper articles on Soviet spies in UNESCO. Sourwine said Senator Eastland generally disliked placing things in the Record, but he thought the Senator would be willing to accommodate us 25X1 on this. After checking with CI Staff I advised Sourwine that further review here indicated that it was probably not advisable to place all these items- . in the Record at the same time e s e c iall the nd I would prefer that the material be withdrawn and not placed in the Record at this time.
