Met with Dorothy Fosdick, Staff Director, Senate Subcommittee on National Security and International Operations, who said that she was not free to discuss any plans for a trip by Senator Jackson, and that all that was wanted was a "staff briefing" on the general subject of Chinese foreign policy. She said they were particularly interested in Chinese policy in the Middle East--especially including Iran, India and Pakistan, in Europe, including Eastern Europe; and the Sino/Soviet relations, particularly regarding respective Chinese and Soviet policies in the above-mentioned areas. She said that they would like the briefing early next week. 4. Bill Woodruff, Counsel, Senate Appropriations Committee, called this morning to say he had heard the news reports about a statement made by Madame Indira Gandhi He said he would probably get some questions on is and asked i we cou give him something on it. I told him I would look into it and we would be 25X1 back in touch with him. 5. David Martin, on the staff of the Senate id that son n the abuse of psychiatry for political repression in the Soviet Union, could probably be made available to the Agency if we were interested. in interviewing him. He added that the Subcommittee plans to have further contacts with Volpin in the near future. I told Martin I would mention this to the appropriate people here.
