Thursday - 31 August 1972 STATOTHR
1. (Internal Use Only - JGO) Met with Mr. Roger Lewis, Adminis-
trative Assistant to Representative Morris Udall (D. , Ariz. ), concerning the
correspondence forwarded for our information from Mrs.
2, (Unclassified - GLC) Robert Freeman Personnel advised that
the decision has been made to brind an applicant
in whom Representative Bill Nichols is interested, in with the next CT class
which will be sometime next January. 25X1
3, (Unclassified - GLC) Ray Jacobson, Civil Service Commission,
called and advised that he had reviewed our proposed letter on H. R. 12652
for the Director to send to Chairman Celler, of the House Judiciary Committee.?
He said he thought it was a good letter which the Commission would have no
objection to our sending. I queried Jacobson again as to whether he knew of
anything further we or they could do by way of contacting people on the Hill on
this legislation and he said he knew of nothing. He added they are proceeding with
preparation of material for Celler's use in amending Title II of the bill on the
House floor if this becomes necessary. I asked Jacobson if he would be good
enough to send us a copy of the proposed amendment which would include a
specific exemption for the Agency. He said he would and assured me that the
language would be identical to the comparable provision of the Hanley bill.
