Percy (R. , Ill. ), called to say the Senator had asked if the Agency could give a briefing to him and Cohen tomorrow morning at 9 o'clock on the situation in Vietnam. The Senator is particularly interested in the effectiveness of the South Vietnamese army and air force in the current situation. Arrange- ments were made for Messrs. Maury and ~ to meet with the Senator and Cohen tomorrow morning at 9:15. 3. She said this was quite satisfactory and thanked me for my call. (C:onfidential - GLG) Jahn Goldsmith, Senate Armed Services Committee staff, called about an insert which had been made by DOD in the Nutter/Sullivan testimony of 7 March 1972 before the Committee. He was particularly a xplanation as to what Project 404 was. After checking with DC /FE, T told Goldsmith this was not our program and i wou a es if he checked this out with the Pentagon. He thanked me and said he would do so. 11. (Internal Use Only -PLC) p.ffice of Finance, 25X1A called concerning a call he received from ye .ova irector Inter- national Division, General Accounting Office .(129-6384). Mr. Stovall stated that on occasion GAO prepares reports which involve the Agency. He mentioned the reports on refugees in South East Asia prepared far Senator Kennedy's Subcommittee and a report being prepared on Radio Liberty and Radio Free Europe. He offered to provide to the Agency copies of these and other reports for information or in draft prior to pub- lication should the Agency so desire. Stovall's call was to the Director of Finance and was referred to Maerker, who knows Stovall personally. OLC, subsequently called the DDS. stated he has 25X1A maintained the liaison with GAO on various reports concerning the Agency, and he would handle the matter.
