Sourwine, Chief Counsel, Senate Internal Security Subcommittee, called to pass on to us some information about E_ 1. He said he had gotten some information from us about II and thought we would be interested in recent information he has received. According to this information go changed his name in a Texas court to 25X1A and go a passport in June and is now in the Soviet .Union. He said he was merely passing this on to us for whatever interest we might have in it. and Public Affairs, Bureau of Politico-Military Affairs, Department of State, called in connection with the Lowenstein /Moose trip. He said they were having a meeting at State at 10 tomorrow morning to which they were inviting us and other members of departments and agencies that had been asked to give Lowenstein and Moose briefings. These include DOD, AID, and NSA. I told Ladd we had not yet received Chairman Fulbright's letter to the Director and we would not be taking any action on this until we had received guidance from the Director which would not be before tomorrow morning. I suggested they go ahead with their meeting and when our situation was determined we would check in with them. He said this was fine. 25X1A 4. Accompanied --land Mr. OCI, to a meeting with Dorothy Fosdick and Richard Perle, staff of the Subcommittee on National Security and International Operations. In response to questions by Miss Fosdick and Mr. Perle, covered the :nature, scope and impact of dissident movements among the Soviet intel-25X1A lectuals, and Soviet policies regarding the Jewish emigration. Many of these questions dealt with possible Soviet responses to various types of possible pressure which might be applied by the U.
