Helms: We are greatly expanding the CHINA article in our New Standard Encyclopedia, and adding many new il- lustrations to the layout. Recently your office sent us a copy of "Peoples Republic of China Atlas',' published this year by Central Intelligence Agency. We wonder whether any of the fine photographs appearing in this Atlas could be released for use in our encyclopedia, a 14 volume set of books for use in homes, schools, and libraries. The use of the photos would be to illustrate the CIII14A article (strictly editorial). We would greatly appreciate it if you would advise us whether your depa -tment could furnish us with glossy prints on several of the photos appearing in your China Atlas. (l,de would, of course, print any designated credit line.) Sincerely yours, Ralph/ W.
