(Internal Use Only - JGO) Talked to Mrs. Harriet Van Duyne, Personal Secretary to Representative Florence Dwyer (R. , N. J. ), in response to Mrs. Van Duyne's call of yesterday concerning and told her that I was unable to identify the individual from the information provided. I learned from her that the family has not heard from him since 1966 but that he has apparently been receiving mail sent to him during that period. I suggested the Congresswoman's office might want to consider having Air Force run a mail check on the delivery of mail and parcels addressed to the individual and that State Department might be of assistance in contacting him. Mrs. Van Duyne was most appreciative. See Journal of 31 August 1971. 2. (Confidential - JGO) Received a call from Mr. Bernard Poirier, Special Assistant to Senator Mike Gravel (D. , Alaska), who told me he had been out of the city on vacation and during his absence he had received a call from but did not have a proper number to respond to the call. I told him I would try to contact and have him call. will return the call and pass off the earlier call to Mr. Poirier on a social note. See Journal items of 19 and 24 August 1971. 3. (Secret - JMM) Called Bill Woodruff, Counsel, Senate Appropriations Committee, regarding delivery of a letter to Chairman Ellender concerning the withdrawal from Reserves on a sensitive project. Woodruff said Ellender would. not be back in town until the middle of next week so there was no hurry. I reminded him in general terms of the project and he said that the only question that had come up when he briefed Ellender earlier was "the number of bodies involved. " I said I would check on this and let him know. I asked Woodruff about the prospects for early action on certain bills of interest to the Agency, such as the Cooper and Symington bills. He said that both of these might come up as soon as the Draft bill was out of the way, probably later in September. cc: ER O/DDCI Mr. Houston Mr. Goodwin DDI DDS DDS&T EA/DDP OPPB SECRET Approved For Release 2007/03/06 : CIA-RDP74B00415R000500030022-6
