She said Senator Jackson had asked her about this. After checking with Mr. Duckett, I told her that we had some material that had just been received but was still being worked on. She asked if this would be processed in a couple of days and I told her I was quite certain it would. She asked us to let her know if there was anything significant. 3. (Confidential - GLC) called to say he is forwarding to us a copy of a draft reply from the Bureau of Narcotics and Drugs to an inquiry from Senator Spong about alleged involvement in drug traffic in Southeast Asia. would like our comments tomorrow morning. (Unclassified - GLC) Checked with Bill Woodruff, Counsel, Senate Appropriations Committee, about the timing of our appearance before the Intelligence Subcommittee on budget matters. Woodruff said he still did not have a specific date in mind but added it would not be before the first week in June. 7. (Confidential - GLC) Pat Jennings, Clerk of the House of Representatives, called and I told him we would be happy to make arrange- ments, as he requested, for two of his staff to receive physical security instruction from our people. Jennings suggested we set a time and advise his office. Mr. - is working on this. 8. (Secret - JGO) Delivered to Mr. W. H. Boone, House Science and Astronautics Committee staff, a blind memorandum "Soviet Civil Space Expenditures" in response to Chairman Downing's request from the briefing given him on 11 May 1971. Mr. Boone was most complimentary in his remarks about the response. Mr. Boone noted that he had nothing further on the Chairman's request to NASA concerning NASA's interface with the intelligence community. See Journal of 17 May 1971. There will be no attribution to the Agency in any use made of the information provided on the Soviet civil space costs. 9. (Internal Use Only - JGO) Met with Miss Angela Morris, Senate Foreign Relations Committee staff, and gave her the maps of China and Southeast Asia requested by Mr. Philip Trimble. See Journal of 11 May. 10. (Confidential - JGO) Talked to Mrs. Lois G. Myers, Employee Benefits Subcommittee staff, who told me that she has surveyed the members of the Subcommittee and has received a favorable response from each of the members for breakfast and briefing at the Agency Headquarters on Wednesday, 9 June 1971.
