On the basis of information provided by
thel of DDP, I advised George Murphy, on the staff of the
Joint Committee on Atomic Energy, that we had been unable to identify
a report answering the description which he gave me on Wednesday. I
added, however, that we did have several newspaper items covering
Soviet complaints that the United States was responsible for the break-
down in agreements or Soviet purchase~5X1
of certain computers. I told Murphy we would be happy to provide him
with copies of these items. Regarding the report Murphy said he would
:recheck his source of information.
Murphy mentioned that the Joint Committee would hold its
organization meeting tomorrow and asked if we could provide him with
several dates which would be acceptable to the Director for the annual
briefing of the Joint Committee. After checking with the Director's
office, I gave Murphy the dates of 24, 23, and 25 February in that order
of priority.
