Dear Wally;
Per our phone conversation on 8.August, here's some material
explaining our concern about the "Ervin bill" rider to H. R. 12652,
originally passed by the Senate as S. 1438.
The material which I believe is self-explanatory, consists of:
a. A brief general statement of our concern;
b. A detailed analysis and explanation of the effect the
various provisions of the bill would have on the Agency's
security and personnel procedures;
c. An explanation of this Agency's unique problems and
responeitilities regarding personnel security and suitability;
d. Text of H. R. 12652 as printed in the Congressional
Record of 4 August; and
e. Copies of letters from the Director to Senator Ervin
and Representative Hanley registering concern over the effects
of the bill.
If you would like further information, please give me a call. We
need all the help we can get in this one so we will be grateful for your
advice and assistance.
