Approved For Release 2002/01/02 : CIA-RDP74B00415R000500180033-8 CONFIDENTIAL JOURNAL OFFICE OF LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL Monday - 10 August 1970 25X1A 1. (Confidential - JMM) On the Director's instructions called Kenneth Harkins, of the House Judiciary Committee staff, to say that the Director didn't want to be difficult but couldn't understand why an additional letter to the Committee was necessary (as Mr. Harkins had requested last week) when there was really nothing more to say. Harkins explained that he wanted the letter so that "the Committee won't have to take my word for it. " Accordingly the Director signed a noncommittal letter confirming that, since there was nothing to add, he stood on his 15 July letter. 2. (Internal Use Only - JGO) Met with Mr. Stephen Small, Assistant to Senator Clifford P. Case (R. , N. J.), and discussed with him the constituent correspondence from that was forwarded by the Senator's office transmittal note of 5 August. Mr. Small advised that he has talked to the Veterans Administration and received some information from them on why the individual might write such a letter. Mr. Small was interested in learning about the Agency's no comment policy on such cases. He thanked me for coming by and told me no further action would be required. 25X1A 3. (Confidential - JGO) Received a call from Mr. J. G. Sourwine, Chief Counsel, Senate Internal Security Subcommittee, who requested such information as we can provide him on who Mr. Sourwine 25X1A indicated "worked for the company some eight years ago." I took this occasion to brief Mr. Sourwine more fully on the inability of - 25X1A 25X1A to meet with the Subcommittee this week. Mr. Sourwine asked if we would furnish him as soon as possible with an address where 25X1A can be reached. After checking with 25X1A Division, I gave Mr. Sourwine the following address: 25X1A 25X1A 1 ~, Approved For Release 2002101/02: CIA-RDP74B00415R000500180033-8
