CELLER APPOINTS SPECIAL SUBCOMMITTEE ON
DOUGLAS IMPEACHMENT RESOLUTION
(D.-N. Y.)
U. S. House of Representatives
Representative Emanuel Celler (D-N.Y.), Chairman of the House
Committee on the Judiciary, today announced the appointment of a
Special Subcommittee of five Congressmen to consider House
Resolution 920 calling for the impeachment of Associate Justice
William 0. Douglas of high crimes and misdemeanors and misbehavior
in office.
Chairman Celler announced that the creation of the Select Sub-
committee was at the direction of the full Committee on the Judiciary
and was designed to provide full and expeditious consideration of the
subject matter of the resolution in accordance with the regular
procedures of the Committee.
Mr. Celler stated that the Special Subcommittee was created in
order to minimize the interruption of Committee consideration of
other legislation and also in order to take advantage of the exten-
sive legal experience of several Members whom he has appointed.
The Members of the Special Subcommittee, who are all members
of the Bar, as are all Members of the Judiciary Committee, are as
follows:
EMANUEL CELLER (Democrat-New York), Chairman
Mr. Geller is the Chairman of the Committee on the Judiciary, Dean
of the House of Representatives, and has been a member of Congress
since the 68th Congress.
BYRON G. ROGERS (Democrat-Colorado)
Mr. Rogers is a former City and County Attorney and a Member and
former Speaker of the Colorado General Assembly. He served as
Colorado State Attorney General, 1936-38, and has been a Member of
Congress since. the 82nd Congress.

JACK BROOKS (Democrat-Texas)
Mr. Brooks was a Member of the Texas Legislature, 1946--50.
He has been a Member of Congress since the 83rd Congress.
WILLIAM M. McCULLOCH (Republican-Ohio)
Mr. McCulloch is a former Member of the Ohio House of Represen-
tatives where he served three terms as Speaker. He has served
as a member of the President's National Advisory Commission on
Civil Disorders and as a member of the President's National
Advisory Commission on the Causes and Prevention of Violence.
He is the ranking Republican Member of the Judiciary Committee
and has been a Member of Congress since the 80th Congress.
EDWARD HUTCHINSON (Republican-Michigan)
Mr. Hutchinson has served as a former Member of both Houses of the
Michigan State Legislature.. He was delegate and Vice President
to the Michigan Constitutional Convention of 1961-62, and has been
a Member of Congress since the 88th Congress.
