5. 1 I Hand-carried to Norma Nottingham, on the
staff of Senator Harrison Wiliiam's (D., N. J.) a 1967 FBIS item requester
by Dr. Leon Levy. I told Miss Nottingham this material was unclassified
and could be forwarded to Dr. Levy.
6. I Met briefly with Bill Woodruff, Counsel,
Senate Appropriations Committee, and gave him a copy of AID Administrator
Hannah',s letter of 22 June 1972 to Senator Proxmire responding to the Senator's
inquiry about
7. Met with Lewis Vallejo, in the office of
Representative J. J. Pickle (D. , Texas), in response to his earlier conversa-
tion with and scheduled a meeting with the office interns for
2:00 p. m. tomorrow afternoon for a brief talk on the Agency.
8. Met with George W. Ashworth, Senate Foreign
Relations Committee stall, and utilizing information provided by Mr. Bruce
Clarke, I briefed him on the missile carrying capacity of the Soviet Y-class
submarine. No further action is required.
9. I I Met with John Martin, Chief Counsel, House
Ways and Means Committee, and discussed with him the background of various
pieces of legislation involving tax exemption for disability payments. In brief
Martin advised that even though' there has been no change in the overall attitude
of the Committee opposing such measures, anticipated changes in the com-
position of the Committee after January could provide a more favorable climate
for consideration of an amendment to the Agency Retirement Act. He suggested
we discuss the matter further immediately after the first of the year.
