11. (Unclassified - LLM) Mrs. Mabel Downey, in the Senate Sub-
committee on Criminal Laws and Procedures, advised that the hearings on
the recommendations by the National Commission on Reform of Federal
Criminal Laws will resume sometime in July and suggested that I be back
in touch with them in a week or so when Chief Counsel, G. Robert Blakey,
will be back in the office to discuss with him the prospects of the proposed
legislation.
12. (Unclassified - JGO) Received a call from Mr. Floyd, of the
reporting firm of Ward & Paul, who advised that the transcript of Monday's
Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearings on legislative proposals
for funding RFE and RL is ready for pickup the first thing tomorrow morning.
13. (Confidential - JGO) Talked to Mrs. Lois G. Myers, Employee
Benefits Subcommittee staff, who told me that Representatives Brasco
(D. , N. Y. ), Hogan (R. , Md. ), and Powell (D. , N. Y.) are the Subcommittee
members to be picked up at the Cannon Building on Wednesday, 9 June, for
breakfast meeting at the Agency. The other members will be driving their
personal cars.
14. (Confidential - JGO) Talked to Mr. Ralph Preston, House
Appropriations Committee staff, and scheduled a meeting in his office with
Messrs. Woodruff, Senate Appropriations Committee staff, Clarke, OPPB, and
James Frey, of OMB, for 10:00 a. m. Thursday, 3 June, to review OMB
proposals for funding RFE and RL.
15. (Unclassified - JGO) Received a call from Miss Jean Smith,
House Foreign Affairs Committee staff, who requested that Mr. Clifford
Hackett, a new Committee staff member who will be working with the
European Subcommittee, be placed on distribution for th

Swann, Administrative Assistant to F. Edward Hebert (D., La. ), concerning
Agency summer employment opportunities. Mrs. Swann said she was quite
sure that we would not have an open program due to security considerations
but that she has had several requests from constituents in recent days.
