Harper I 4 Row. $6.95 former head of the CIA, points out that the spy or iniciligence agent has be. come the hero of the 1960's adventure- reading audience, the "new-model mus-? kctacr." Mr Dulles, who also edited "Great True Adventures" and other books, contributed enlightening prefaces to each section of this anthology in which the stories are arranged as "The Danger- ous German Spy," "Brainwashing," "Spoofs," etc.-as well as introductory paragraphs explaining the backgrounds of some of his selections and something about their authors. He was certainly knowledgcable in espionage fiction, for which he had an admitted fondness. The 32 stories included are notable for the high quality of their authors' writing. Many are episodes discerningly abstract- ed from novels. Authors range, In time, from Dumas and Doyle to, Maclanes, Le Carrel and Fleming. A Ken S.
