General Ginsburgh, U. S. News and World Report, who is a graduate of the
Harvard Law School was invited recently to speak at Harvard at a seminar by
Professor Leach. Bob Amory had spoken either a week before or a week later at
the &ime seminar. This was the first time that David Lawrence had permitted
any of his people to participate in an outside activity of this type and his
conditions under which he permitted Ginsburgh to attend were, indeed, much
more strict than any CI applies to its senior personnel.
Ir. Lawrence told Ginsburgh he could attend provided the U. S. News and
World Report paid all expenses, that he accept no gratuities of any type,
that before accepting it be agreed there would be no announcement in writing
of his appearance as a speaker, that there would be no printed matter resulting
from his speech either public or private, and that there be no mention of the
U. S. News and World Report.
