cret agency's meager, relations
with the press.

Stanley J. Grogan, who was the
sole contact for newsmen
thrqugh, the tenures of the late
Walter Bedell Smith and of'Al-
len W. Dulles, as well as under
the present director, John A.
McCone.
Col. ,Grogan, 72, suffered a
heart attack last summer and
is retiring. Mr. Chretien, father
of eight children and a grad-
uate of Catholic University,
has until now been assigned to
briefing Government officials,
diplomats and military officers
on CIA operations.
