Such an attitude, which is quite apparent among real Fairfax citizens, gives much character and strength of purpose to the com- muitity, and, too, provides much stimulation of thought and historical interest to many of the relative new- comers. As a Conferedate Citadel, Fairfax conics into its own each year on the 19th of January which is the birthdate of General Robert E. Lee. Fore General Lee's birthday is cele- brated here, not as a casual histori- cal fact, but as if it were, a family affair in the sense that he was a beloved member of the Fairfax family and not forgotten. Many of the weekend pleasures are centered about a birthday party for General Lee; outstanding among them will be the Birthday party planned for Saturday evening by Mr, and Mrs. Robert Walker at their home on Payne Street. At 8:00 _ o?clocl: in the evening, many members and guests of the' United Daughters of the Confed- .eracy will gather to enjoy a pro- j grain honoring the memory of Gen- eral Lee. Mrs. Lafe Allen will sing outstanding Confederate songs such as Lorena and Bonnie Blue Flag, accompanied by Mr. Walter Oliver, Jr., on the AutoHarp.
