I ara writing, at this time to extend our appreciation to your Director
of Placem: nt, Mrs. Dorothy Hope and her Assistant, I3r. Jerry D hi } :n,
for their fins but flexible handling of a s tuc. ent demonstration on
3.0 October protesting CLV s recruit ent activlty.
By now CIA has groirn accustomed to this type of protest from a sm 11
minority of the student body, but I rust admit that 1 have never seen
it handled better. Because of the polite hand-ling of the protesting
students by your Placement Official s, it was difficult for the small
group to sustain or to enlist support for the irotest, and as a
result there i as no further afternoon disturbance following the
11:30 a.m. confrontation.
This Agency is indeed appreciative of the strong support your offi-
cials rendered on our behalf.
The interviews on that date went very well and the students -Viho
interviewed on our regular schedule were very imY-pre ssive. We are
hopeful that several of them will join us in areas of Research and
Analysis,
