Mr. Kirkpatrick was born in, Rochester, New Yorkr, -al-
graduated from Princeton University in the School of Public and

International Affairs Prior to World War Jhe worked for the U. S.
News Publishing Cbrporation and uringl ar'he served in OSS
and on the staff of Gen. Omar Bradley's 12th U. S. Army Group as
intelligence briefing officer. For his service in World War II he
received the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, European Theater Ribbon
with five battl star and the French a d Belgian Croix le Guerre.'
