Sin B.`Kirkpatrick was born in 1916 in Rochester, New
graduating from Princeton University in 1938, he
studies languages at the University of Geneva. Prior to World
33 he was employed as Editor and Personnel iffier for the United
a News. He entered military service in 1942 and served until
1915 as a U. S. Ara w Intelligence Officer. After an assignment
with OSS in the European Theatre, Sr. Kirkpatrick joined the
intelligence staff of General Bradley's !'+eelfth Army Group, remain-
t organization until the end of the war. Thereafter
he served an additional tour in the Washington headquarters of the
OSS. After separation from the military service as a major in
Kirkpatrick resumed his position as an editor of U. S.
News and World Report. in January 1947 he resigned to join the
Central Intelligence Agency. With the appointesrnt of General
Smith as Director of Central Intelligence in October
Kirkpatrick was appointed an executive assistant. is
the brother of e1en Kirkpatrick, well known foreign and war
correspondent.
