Mr. Lundahl and Mary Maly Evil were married in Chicago, Illinois,on

Arthur Charles Lundahl attended. the Wentworth Elementary School in
Chicago, Illinois, and was graduated in 1929. He was graduated from Tilden
Technical Nigh School, Chicago, Illinois, in 1933. He received hie Bachelor
of Science degree at the University of Chicago in 1939 and his Master of
',3eience degree in 1942. He majored in geology and did post-graduate work at
the University of Chicago for his 1111.4 specializing in geology, 6hemistry,
and physics. He attended the Eidgen Technical Hodhschule, Zurich, Switzerland
in 1948.
He served in the U.S. Navy on active duty as a ]lieutenant dihmmander from
23 November 1942 to 8 April 1946. He is a naval reserve officer.
He is a member of the American Society of Photogrammetry, Washington, D.C.
and of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. and was
President of that Society in 1954-5. Captain Lundahl is a Member of the Cosmos Club
OC , Washington, D. C.

He is a nether of Sigma Chi, Kappa Epsilon Pi, and 1e a University of
Chicago FelldWitWaindahl has been in the service of the United States
Government for 20 years, the last 10 of them with the Central Intelligence
Agency, which he joined on 11 Nay 1953.
In World War II, in his service with the U.S. Navy, he was a photographic
intelligence specialist. He was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal by Admiral
Nimita for outstanding service in the 1943 North Pacific Campaign. After re-
lease from active duty in 1946, he joined the staff of the U.S. Navy Photo-
graphic Center as Chief of the Photackammetry Division.
Mr. Lundahl today ill the United States Government's principal adviser
on photographic intelligence matters. He has been concerned with important
problems affecting national security, including the Cuban Crisis and other
critical actions.
In addition to his iality, regarding which he has written and lectured,

Mk. Lomahl Is deecribed by his tossociates as not only outstanding in
technical competence, but highly cooperative and selfless in his dedication
to national security. Re has been described as an inspired leader who has
made major contributions to the science of photographic intelligence.
Ir. Lundahl is the third CIA official to receive one of the Career Service
Awards of the National Civil Service League. Lyman B. Kirkpatrick, the ecu-
tiveDirector of CIA, received the firot in 1960; and Sherman Kent, Assistant
Director for National Estimates, CIA, received the award in 1961. Mr. Kirkpatrick
was born in Rochester, New York. Mr. Kent was born in Chicago, Illinois.
