Two Britons and two Germans; were among the victims. Two were women. It was the worst tragedy of Austria's winter holiday season. The avalanche strikck a group of none skiers, led by an Aus- trian instructor, while practic- ing near the Ulmer Mountain hut at 6,000 feet altitude. Rescuers managed to dig out three persons alive, but five others were decd by the time l they were reached. The avalanche was 2,400 feet: long, 600 feet wide and twelve, feet deep.
