Former U2 pilot Francis
Gar, y Powers has . resigned
1 from, the Central Intelligence
Agency, a United Press Inter-
national article reported last
Friday.
Powers quit the CIA one Oct.

The 33 year old Powers had
been working with t he CIA
in WashingtQh ever since his
return to t he United States
from a ',S' &vlet prison last win-
ter.
He was home at P usad for
a rest and to receive tribute
from varied state"a n d South-
west Vix+ginia grpups shortly
after his return to the United
States.
In addition Powers who in
August filed aunt for divorce
from his wife, Barbara, of Mil?
ledgeville, Ga. was known to
have been in. Pound at about
that time.
Powers was a CIA employee
when he made his _ ill-fated
surveillance mission- over the
Soviet Union on May 1, 1960.
His -Capture when the U2 was
downed was used by Nikita
Khrushchev to stop a summit
meeting in Paris virtually be-
fore it began.
