Mrs. Powers Out
Of Hospital After;
Mystery Illness
WASHINGTON (AP) .
Mrs, Barbara Powers, wife of
U-2 pilot Francis Gary Powers,
has been discharged from
Georgetown University Hospi-
tal, a spokesman there said
yesterday.
Mrs, Powers, 27, was taken to
the hospital in a coma Friday,
left on Monday with the nature
of her illness still something of
a mystery.
Mr. Powershimse if was not
immediately available for com-
ment on a New York newspaper
story that quoted him as saying
his wife had indigestion and
that a report she had taken an
overdose of sleeping pills was
silly.
When Mrs. Powers was ad-
mitted to the hospital, police
said she was reported to have
taken an overdose of sleep- in-
ducing barbiturate. '
On Sunday, the day before
she was released, a hospital
spokesman said no diagnosis of
her illness had been made. No;
further information on her con-
dition was immediately avail-
able from hospital officials %pTday. ,/
